Vayojana Grama Sabha
The Vayojana Gram Sabha is a special assembly under the leadership of local self-government bodies to ensure the participation and welfare of senior citizens (elderly) above 60 years of age. Vayojana Gram Sabha and Sneha Sangam of Kotukal Gram Panchayat was held at Chinnanwila Community Hall on 01/10/2026.
Key Objectives and Features:
Formulation of Welfare Schemes: Facilitates discussion and submission of proposals for welfare schemes, pensions and health care schemes to be implemented by the Panchayat / Municipality for the elderly.
Health and Care: Special medical camps, free medicine distribution and palliative care services are planned for the elderly.
Grievance Redressal: Provides a platform to bring to the attention of the local administration the mental, physical, social problems and other grievances faced by the elderly.
Utilization of experience: Utilizing the knowledge and experience of senior citizens in development projects of the country.
Recreation and Social Connection: Setting up old age clubs and day care centers for mental recreation and preventing social isolation.
In short, it is one of the most powerful democratic platforms working at the local level to protect the rights of the elderly and improve their quality of life.
