ASHA – Accredited Social Health Activist: Community-based female health activists working as part of the National Health Mission (NHM).
Serving as the main link connecting the public with the public healthcare system, they play a crucial role in delivering healthcare services, especially to women, children, pregnant women, and postnatal mothers.
Main Objectives and Duties
Healthcare Care Provide necessary healthcare services to pregnant women and postnatal mothers.
Immunization Provide support to ensure child vaccination and immunization schedules.
Nutritional Awareness Provide guidance on hygiene, sanitation, and a healthy lifestyle.
Family Planning Create awareness about family planning services and assist in accessing them.
Primary Care Connect people with government health services like Primary Health Centres.
Disease Control Report information regarding infectious and non-communicable diseases to the Health Department.
